Communications software covers a wide variety of computer software. It includes Internet browsers, like Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. It also would include software that allows the users to talk to one another in real time using their modem and the Internet, like Microsoft's Internet Phone. Another type of communications software would be software used for 'video phone'. This software allows users to hear AND see one another, in real time. There so many ways to communicate, therefore there are many different programs to cater for each form of communication. If one wanted to communicate using text and pictures or diagrams, they could use email software to create and send their communication. Other different files can also be attached to this email, so a email receiver could get an text email message, that also contained an image, this email could also have a file attached to it, perhaps a video file or a sound file. File transfer programs therefore could also be classed as communications software, simply because any files sent could be used to communicate. |
